Some potentially good news! From our realtor: I did receive a bit of good news today, your file is now showing on the banks website as “Held”… I believe it is the last stage before approval; the site shows the timeline as “new” -> “negotiating” -> “held” -> “accepted.” Hopefully I will have even better news for you next week.

This is the first sign of actual progress we've seen since mid-October. I hope this is good news!!

House

I know it's been something like a bajillion weeks (or, you know, 12) since I posted last, but remember the house situation I mentioned forever ago?

We *might* hear something tomorrow. Maybe. 'Cause it's only been 10 weeks since we signed the purchase contracts, no need to rush these things. Their bank said they wouldn't make a decision before November 29, which is today, so that means they might have something to tell use tomorrow. Maybe. Grrr....

IF we hear something this week, my brother/loan agent said he can have keys in hand by Friday, which means we might be moving this weekend. Scary, but totally exciting!! So, anyone potentially available to move this weekend, or maybe next? :-)

Remember me?

I know, it's been somewhere near forever since I posted.

So, here's a basic rundown of the last few... well, we'll stick with weeks, it's easier to follow.

1. Work got slow, then my co-worker took 3 weeks leave because his brother died, so I got slammed with his case load, and am just now surfacing from that.

2. My landlord called about 3 weeks ago, adn said he wants to sell us the house. Then last week I got a call from the property management agency they have contracted to SHORT SELL the house. So, we're probably moving >:-{ We're going to make an offer, but we can't afford nearly what they are projecting will be the final sale price of the property.

3. We've been cleaning like madmen because they are coming Saturday to take pictures. I only know this because I asked. Good thing I asked.

4. I found out Tuesday that my friend who's daughter died in May was robbed on 8/14, and the thief took the camera with the pictures from Samantha's funeral, so I have been stalking craisglist and calling pawn shops trying to help her get them back.

Other than that it's the normal "I have 3 kids and a full time job"  business. Good busy, but still busy! :-)

So... hi. *waves*

Reflections

As some of you might have heard, and most of you likely haven't, a good friend of mine lost her daughter to SIDS two weeks ago Friday. It's one of those things that hits you, then keeps sneaking up and beating you with sorrow when you're least expecting it.

The thing that keeps getting me is that as much as I love my friends, I barely knew their daughter. I had only met her once, because "life got too busy" for me to go visit. I missed out on knowing an amazing little person, because I was "too busy".

Please, don't be "too busy" for people. You truly never know when they will be gone for good.

"Save Dora" Update

Copied from my e-mail:
Update on Dora )</div></td></tr><tr><td valign="top">

Now we're jazzed up by the wonderful open letter Linda Holmes wrote to Pixar (now owned by Disney), asking them for a lead female character in one of their movies.  We liked her positive take so much that we turned her request into our next petition.  Read her amazing letter and then go to www.ipetitions.com/petition/realgirls to ask Pixar to turn their wildly creative imagination to the development of a girl character all children (and adults) can love!

Thank you for your help making a difference!

-The Hardy Girls Team

P.S. Check out the Packaging Girlhood and Hardy Girls blogs about the need for more girl lead characters.

P.P.S. Sign our petition today asking for more real girls in Disney/Pixar films!

</td></tr></tbody></table></div></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>Well, at least she's keeping her fundamental characteristics... that's a start, right?  It really bothers me that some wasn't happy with Dora as she is, so they have to change her, have her grow up - what happened to leaving well enough alone? Did the Peanuts characters ever grow up? The Simpsons?!? Argh!!</div>

Writer's Block: There Can Be Only One

Do you believe in monogamy?

View 501 Answers

For myself - yes, I do. I am an inherently selfish person. I want to know that my spouse (or partner, or whomever) is solely and completely MINE. I want to know that no one else gets the privilege and joy of being with him, because he's MINE. It probably helps that when I decide who I want, I don't generally want anyone else. Therefore, I see little need to seek an additional relationship with another person, because for the time my partner is meeting all (or at least enough) of my needs. If that changes, I will seek to fix the problem, and if it can't be fixed I will leave that relationship and find another that meets my needs better.

That being said, I have absolutely no problem with people who choose to not be monogamous, as long as all parties involved are aware of the lack of monogamy. Full disclosure is a must, IMO. If everyone involved is happy, then more power to them :o)

Sickie Update

Well, we went to the dr today and they did give X-man an antibiotic, but not for the eyes (which seem to have mysteriously cleared up again..). It turns out he has an ear infection starting, his very first ever! So, go go mighty antibiotics! Hopefully he's back to 100% in no time!

It's the Ick!

Well, it seems that having been relatively disease-free for the majority of the winter has come back to bite us here, because it's been a helluva few weeks.
First, Xander came down with Pink eye. Not horrible, but icky. Judging by his reaction to them, they eye drops are made from acid.
Then I came down sick - achy at first, then full-blown coughing, congested, exhausted, missed two days of work and thinking of calling in sick tomorrow kind of sick. Again, icky.
Of course, when I get sick, both of my smallest children must follow suit. Hunter and Xander are both runny nose, coughing, sorry little guys, though X got it much worse than H.
Oh, and the pink eye is back. It seems that his fighting us every drop of the way kept enough of it from getting in that it didn't really kill the infection, just sent it into hibernation. So he's back on drops until I can get his pedi to prescribe something a little easier to administer, like a horde of angry wombats carrying hypodermics or something. Or, you know, an oral suspension antibiotic could work, too...

I'm going to bed.

One Word (Meme)

Describe me in one word... just one single word. Positive or negative.

Leave your word in a comment before looking at what words others have used.

Then copy and paste the meme to your journal to find out how people will describe you when limited to one word.

New Floor!

The hubby and I (with intermittent help from boy #1, and consistent interference from boy #2 and boy #3) managed to put in hardwood flooring this weekend! It took forever, but it looks so much nicer!

Want to see? )

Just a note...

...If you're planning to be home alone with two toddlers most of the day on Christmas Eve, the Sunday before then is NOT a good time to come down with a terrible cold! D'oh! This stinking cold cost me a day's sick leave, precipitated the canceling of our standing Tuesday RPG, and caused me to have to decline a dinner invitation to hang with [info]agengrgal  and her new guy... *sigh*

Ah well, at least I was able to take today off work without having to make 30 million client calls, since I hadn't bothered to schedule anyone! I think it's some sort of Karma telling me I don't deserve a paperwork day... ;-)

In other news, I lost 2 lbs this week! Go me!!

I think this is kinda accurate, actually....

You are The High Priestess

Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

Passing it Along

Snagged from [info]kadyg . I thought it was a beautiful idea, so I am passing it along.

I recently got this request from a friend of mine:

I started thinking that most people probably need to tell someone one more thing and can't because they have died, lost their mental facilities like my mom, or lost touch with long ago. Last week, I opened a post office box and I am inviting my friends to send anonymous letters, postcards, or artwork to:

Last Letter PO Box 75204 Wichita, KS 67275

So if you have something you need to say to someone who truly can't hear you, write it down and drop it in the mail. The Universe's address is apparently in Wichita. Feel free to pass this amongst the Friends Lists as well.

I think I am going to go write a letter to my Grandpa...

I'm Back, too.

Yeah, I know you probably didn't even notice I was gone, since I *never* post, but I was actually in Las Vegas for about a week. It was fun, but I realized that 7 days w/o my kids is about 3 days too long. I missed them so much by Tuesday that if we hadn't gotten tickets for a show Wednesday night we might have gone home a night early. Ah well, everyone's home and annoying the pants off of Mommy again, so all is well with the world, lol.

Oh, yeah, and today's my 4 year anniversary, and would have been my grandfather's 83rd birthday. Go me :o)
